Sinergia Racing Group, S.L. (SRG) is an SME located in Cartagena (Murcia) dedicated to the manufacture of prototypes, moulds, models and parts for the composite materials sector, especially for the wind and naval industry.
The high price of raw materials and labour-intensive processes means that the cost of manufacturing boats for recreational use in composite materials (thermosetting resin and carbon fibre) is very high, making them far from a growing global market.
Technically, the project has contemplated the development of a manufacturing process for carbon fibre fabrics that makes it possible to produce, by means of the transversal extension of fibre strands in thin strips, reinforcement sheets of very low thickness, going from 200 to 50 microns, from thick, high grammage fabrics.
Similarly, in order to reduce the high number of hours involved in the manufacture of composite naval structures, especially in manual lamination and finishing processes, an automation process has been developed for the placement of sets of fabrics (structure) and thermoplastic sheets (finish) that make up a single-stage process.
The project was carried out at the company’s facilities located in the Los Camachos Industrial Estate in Cartagena (Murcia).
The execution period has been 18 months, with work starting at the end of December 2016 and completion on 15 June 2018.
The project budget approved for the execution of the works was 319,608 euros.
The Research and Development project has been carried out thanks to the aid granted by the Centre for Technological and Industrial Development (CDTI) and the European Union through co-financing from ERDF funds.
